Double the Trouble

(Im not done writing on this blog, but its time for me to start round 3 of this weekends shindigs, Ill update at the end of the weekend!)
Happy 4th of July everyone! Have fun and most of all BE SAFE! :-)

Neon Moon is a place to go with friends and do some boot scootin' boogie, but not when ur the oldest people at the bar! I think Im still on the safe side because I was the youngest in my group! Does that count?

Did you know that Roanoke has a Tavern? Yep, it does! Who knew that one day I would be bar hopping in Roanoke, Texas!

Engagement celebration lunch with the girls @ Mi Cocina In Las Colinas.
For some reason we didn't get a big group pic of everyone!
Alicia and I on our 2nd round of 4th of July weekend festivities!
So extremely HOT outside, but we managed to get inside and have a little relief from the heat. it was well after 11pm and we were still dripping in sweat! Eck!
I will not reveal any names on here, but obviously our friend has had a little too much to drink and decided to park himself right next to the truck..in the drive way...Niiice!
Look at this ridiculousness! Of all places for Lola to fall asleep she has to do it right next to my head. We have an entire BIG bed now and she still manages to take up my space!

My 'gggeerrrrr' face!
I was told it wasnt my best look! blahahahaha!
This weekend ended up being more eventful than I had planned. I wasn't in the mood for too much fun because my head has been in a cloud for the past week. But I have good friends who won't let me sit around and have my pity party for one.
I'm just so irritated. My progress has been really good and then with one wave of a hand I'm down and have taken several steps back. Thats not cool. It's not right and it's not fair. It's okay...It's just a minor set back! No biggie! It's so not worth it! I have so much more to look forward to!

Joe Jonas gets it right! See no more

Pool time!
being kidnapped to go swimming isnt so bad!
This weekends festivities were fun! I was surrounded by good people, good eats and most of all had a lot of fun! Sun, pool, beer pong, some kind of bean bag game, texas country music and some good ol' texas two steppin', big trucks and lots of laughs. Met some really awesome new people! Oh, but this heat was ridiculous. Just sitting with no wind was miserable. Friday night there was absolutely no breeze and thank goodness for the pool because there was no relief. Saturday was so much better. There was a slight breeze, but later into the evening the breeze disappeared.

Grapevine Lake
Grapevine Lake

Grapevine lake was amazingly packed with people ready to see the fireworks from Gaylord. I have never seen the fireworks from Grapevine. I normally go to Lonestar to see the fireworks and that's where I have been going for years. I had an awesome view of the show and thank goodness for the amazing breeze that was coming off from the lake! It would have been even more awesome to be on a boat watching the fireworks, but I wasn't about to complain. I was pretty happy to be where I was.

death to our sparklers, not a single one left!
We burned through 200+ sparklers and lit off a 'fish bowl' even though there was a burn ban and I felt like a true rebel. I was ready to scatter in case the police decided to show up... I am not about to pay a 400 dollar ticket for shooting off fireworks during a burn ban...hahahaha.
Loved the weekend I had. It was calm, relaxing yet fun and spontaneous! Now it's time to get back on track and focus on what's in front of me. I like what I see so far! ;-)

Orientation is July 7! Yah!!! First day of school is July 11! Alicia's birthday is this Friday and Ashley's bachelorette party is July 16 which I am so super excited about because I KNOW it's going to be so MUCH FUN! 4 days after the bachelorette party we leave for Puerto Rico! I dont know how much longer I can stand to wait for this!! It's been such a long time coming! And it's approaching quickly! (but not quickly enough) Once I get back from my P/R trip I will be getting my car back! Thank goodness because I've missed her! I have lots of distractions and lots of good things to look forward to!

Cultivating relationships

Maintaining relationships demands effort; it's a mutual journey. Each party contributes, and amidst this exchange, bonds form—be it friendships or deeper connections. Some relationships necessitate more investment; sometimes, it feels like you're carrying the weight alone, striving to sustain the connection. Personally, I've struggled with nurturing friendships; perhaps due to youthful ignorance, where life felt boundless, consequences seemed distant, and self-centeredness prevailed. As age brings maturity, many friendships naturally drift away amid life's chaos and the challenges of adulthood. Reflecting on my past interactions often astonishes me; how did I manage any healthy relationships back then? Truthfully, I didn't. Those who I once considered friends, or who considered me as such, have vanished, leaving behind only fragmented memories—thanks, memory loss. Although forgetfulness might seem a blessing, the impressions we leave behind persist. This notion unne...
Made it into 2025 injury-free—well, mostly! 😆 Besides the usual aches and pains (and that one time I threw my back out, but we’re not counting that—that’s just seasoned wisdom kicking in). On the bright side, my diabetes is well under control! My latest doctor’s appointment went great—numbers are low, bloodwork looks good, and I just need to keep moving forward. Meanwhile, the hubby is down with the flu, so he’s quarantined in the bedroom while I’ve taken over the couch. Work has been hectic. We’ve been short a recruiter, which means more work on my plate. We finally hired someone new, but she’s still in training. She seems nice—quieter than the rest of us, but then again, our little group is a bit on the weird side. On the fun side, I got a new tattoo—matching with my bestie! 💉✨ And now, I’m seriously considering a septum piercing. Call it a midlife crisis if you want, but I say, why not do it while I still can? I haven’t spent much time at the barn this year. Then again, t...
I’m really struggling with watching my parents grow older. My mom’s memory has declined a lot, and walking has become difficult for her. She’s not active anymore—she mostly stays at home, only doing small chores around the house. She has very little motivation to do anything beyond that. My dad takes care of so much for her, and I try to keep her going by spending time with her, but our conversations feel so different now. As for my dad, his health is okay—not great, but manageable. I’ve mentioned before how hard it is to watch him face the physical limitations that come with age. He’s always been the kind of dad who could do it all—fix anything, carry anything, help with anything. He’s been my rock, always there to support me. I don’t think he ever imagined he’d still be helping his 40-year-old daughter with Jeep mods—but knowing him, I’m sure he secretly loves it. My dad and I are both facing new health challenges right now. I’m scared—but thankfully, mine isn’t life-threatening, as...
